Hearing is Believing

From Media Magazine, by Tom Siebert, February 2007 issue

It's one thing to read KSFO host Melanie Morgan complaining that the San Francisco Chronicle is trying to influence a California congressional race by altering a photo of Rep. Richard Pombo so he appears "furtive and dark," but it's another thing entirely to actually listen to the sound bite and hear the way she spits out the word "black" in her comment: "It is shaded to where it looks like he's a black man. ... I think it's just shameful."

The way she says the word, she makes it sound like being black would be the worst thing in the world - because to Melanie Morgan, it probably would be. And it's far more shocking than reading it on the page.

As you listen to the KSFO segments, the hatred in the hosts' voices comes through so much stronger than reading it. There is a truly chilling moment listening to morning talk host Lee Rodgers ruminate: "The day will come when unpleasant things are going to happen to a bunch of stupid liberals. ... It's going to be very amusing to watch."

I think that's just shameful, but it's KSFO/ABC/Disney so what do you expect?

Good job once again. Are you OK to post NEW audio clips from KSFO? Fair use is fair use... these self righteous right-wing zealots don't have a leg to stand on.
By the way... I'm "running" for mayor...

Hey, Lee--some unpleasant things already happened to a bunch of you stupid reactionaries; they were called "the 2006 elections". :)

Thought of you while listening this morning: On the KSFO morning show today, Melanie Morgan and guest were discussing a Washington Post story about Mitt Romney's polygamous ancestors, and declared that using someone's religion and ancestry against them was both "un-American" and "despicable" and then, barely pausing for breath, she launched into a bit about how Barack Obama's father was Muslim and had three wives! The transition was so seamless that I could not tell if she was joking about her "despicable" and "un-American" comments or whether she was completely oblivious to the apparent hypocrisy.

And then, during this second piece, her co-hosts, Brian Sussman and "Officer Vick", launched into an acapella version of 'Papa Was A Rolling Stone' and then said it was their new Obama theme song! Why not their new Romney theme song?

Do you think they think they're being funny? Do they think it's okay for them to mock a black man but not a white man, even if he's mormon? these people are creepy

Thanks for your note on my blog!
I'll check it out. They often are inconsistent from one minute to the next. Suggesting that it is a subtle attempt at humor I believe gives them too much credit.

Did you see where George Soro's leaned on them enough to get a half-assed backhanded 'apology' for calling him a Nazi?
